98 and 99 ezgo series and dcs which is better
So I have come across 2 carts and purchased them both. I am in the process of fixing them up and I am going to sell one of them. The dcs had a bad ITS sensor when I bought it but it is fixed. I like them both...the dcs is faster but I am looking at putting maybe 20 inch tires on one of them and a couple inch lift...not much just a little more clearance. Which cart is a better cart...I see so many different opinions on dcs and series? How much faster is the dcs over the series on its best day? Lets hear it cart gurus!!

Yes and a typewriter is simpler than a PC.
Both drive systems have their advantages. The series cart produces more torque and less speed than the DCS system.. I like the DCS system. It produces more torque and less speed then the PDS system. If you're off-road involvement is serious and your tires large I would lean towards the series cart. Space If your driving habits lean towards more of a mixture of on and off road driving your tires are a little smaller and your off-road terrain not quite as gnarly I really prefer the DCS cart. Whichever one you choose, have fun and be safe. |

The DCS drive system got a bad rap from the OEM controllers.. Once they're fitted with an alltrax control they are a very reliable and simple machine. Plus, consider there is no hi amperage Rotary switch to melt down as the controller does the directional switching.

Re: 98 and 99 ezgo series and dcs which is better
Thanks guys! I am liking the dcs cart....just trying to decide whether I want to upgrade the controller...which I will have to do if I make any mods. Is there a simple way to make the series cart faster and more torque? I have 2 gauge cables already to put on the one I decide to keep. I just want to keep the all around best cart....the kids will use it to run around the campground...and I will use it occasionally to hunt with. It will have a back seat and have it loaded with passengers from time to time as well. Might enough lift to get say 20 inch tires under it...I don't want to rob it too much of its power. How much power does the upgrade controller give to the dcs? Anything to do to the series for this situation or will it handle it with no upgrades?
Thanks! |

If I had a DCS I guess I wouldn't have needed the HD F/R switch I purchased from you. I like what I see that you have for sale but I am sure I could find substitutions if my money is not worthy of your parts. If you check my posts I feel sure they will show I believe your parts are top notch and the members of the forum support this.
As my earlier post say I vote series for torque for my conditions but as I gain more knowledge on the subject I could change my mind. |

The discussion here is for the original poster who has 2 carts he is trying to decide between. Given his needs (which are different than yours) I suggest he give the DCS cart a go. It cost less to upgrade because it has fewer cables and no F&R to replace. Controller pkg # 505 is just $455 with the HD solenoid and he will see a 40% increase in torque and top speed of about 20-22 mph with 18 - 20 inch tires. I hope this helps |

scottyb.....that is what I was looking for exactly!! I will be checking into the packages once I decide about the lift and tires. After reading more and checking your packages I do think the dcs with the upgraded controller will fit my needs. I appreciate your knowledge and sharing your expertise!! a 40% increase would be substantial and just what I am looking for! Thanks!
