battery cable upgrade/pre install question
First, I have a 95 ezgo series cart that i will be making my own cables for over the next couple of days. My question might be stupid, but is there any things i need to turn off/disconnect / and so on before i get started. I will obviously disconnt the positive and negative before i get started, just dont want to fry anything out of stupidity. Thanks as always

Re: battery cable upgrade/pre install question
Bull, seeing as how you have a series cart. you are good to go. but what I would suggest to be on the safe side, so there is no chance of arcing/sparking, is to disconnect the battery pack first, as you mentioned, and make that the last two you reinstall.

Re: battery cable upgrade/pre install question
Also, remember there are 13 high current cables in a series cart and they all carry the same current.

Re: battery cable upgrade/pre install question
Dave, what he is saying, is some people don't realize that you need to replace all of the high current cables with the same sized cable, otherwise you create a bottle neck. not just the battery cables, we have seen this done many times. and on a series cart, there are 13 cables. That is what he is saying.

Attached are two drawings. The first is a series wound motor drive system reduced to its simplest form and shows the single current path through all components. The second is the actual schematic of a series drive cart with the 13 cables highlighted. |
