Another Newbie, with alot of questions
I have a place out close to Abilene,TX. I think I would like to buy a golf cart to use kind of like a utility cart. I have a generator but no electric hook up.
Am I crazy or could this work out. I want the stealth of the electic cart for wild hogs. The land is fairly level except for a low water creek crossing ( dry or I wouldn't cross it). Help Buford |

Re: Another Newbie, with alot of questions
Welcome to the forum Buford...................
The only problem would be charging time on the batteries. The generator would have to run all night to charge the batteries. Golf cart batteries usually require 6 to 12 hours to fully recharge. (depending on their age) If you can stand listening to the generator that long, go fer'it. |

Re: Another Newbie, with alot of questions
isn,t there someone here who just posted a pic of a solar powered way to charge cart? not sure if you can go that route or not but your only other option is a generator and a quiet one at that.......if you can live with that noise and you have good batteries you should be able to charge them in 5 to 7 hours if your not running them into the ground........................

Re: Another Newbie, with alot of questions
Hello Buford, Is this a place that you go on the weekends? If so just take you cart home and charge it. With a new set of good batteries your cart should be good for the entire weekend unless your riding all day. Our lifted carts on new batteries will run about three hours of run time and at 22MPH thats 60 miles of riding. I have looked at several of the solar options out right now but none seem to work very well. The best one out adds about 20% of runtime on a sunny day. And don't be afraid to cross that creek with some water in it. Here is a link to a video on my website. This is one of our carts that was used in the filming of a reality hunting show, Southern Woods and Water.

Re: Another Newbie, with alot of questions
I appreciate the clip. Mine is a dry creek and if it isn't dry it means it has rained alot and hundreds of acres drain through the creek. West Texas rains.
I really don't want to take it back and forth each time, 300 + miles round trip. I usually go once a month during off season, but as often as I can during deer season. Will a 36 volt be strong enough? |

Re: Another Newbie, with alot of questions
36 Volts with 400 amps is really strong. The storage capacity of a six volt battery is what you would want for your hunting. Sounds like the generator may be your best bet. You could always opt for a gas cart. Although they are not stealthy like the electric cart, remember that they are made for a golf course. They are not nearly as loud as a 4 wheeler. I have a dealer in Chorpus Christy if you are interested in trying one out
