Default Looking for new motor recommendations

I am changing from 36 to 48 volts and looking to upgrade the motor.

I want it all I guess... speed and torque. I will not be on hills all the time but then I do not want to struggle when I get to hills just because I am not on them all the time.

There will be 2 full size adults and a Black Lab (85 lbs) most of the time with 2 bags of golf clubs in the back (golf clubs = no lab, kind of a wash).

The community is mostly asphalt, flat ground but there are tunnels going under major raods with steep hill climbs that some carts barely make it up.

I heard Plum Quick was a good choice but looking for the communities recommendation.

What say you experts?

Tony, is the cart pictured in your avatar the cart you are talking about upgrading? if so, have you done any upgrades to the "propulsion" system? such as the controller, solenoid, cables, etc..... and what type of cart is it, a series or a sepex?

One option might be to upgrade everything but the motor, and see if it makes you happy with the stock motor.

with that in mind.....either go with Plum Quick (Site Sponsor) or D&D Motors - a lot of guys have used them.

Either will build you a custom motor to meet you specific needs.

Or buy the motor Nuke and I have in our sigs. Not the highest torque or Hp, but the fastest rpm "off the shelf" motor I could find.

with the motor that we got, and you upping to 48v, it would put you in the neighborhood of 35 mph

But you mentioned the terrain and load.....Adam can better tell you about that, as he is at 48v.......and I am still running 36v and running 23" tires and top out at 27 mph on flat ground.

I've got some moderate hills, but still run stock 18" tires. No problems with four people and two extra batteries and a rear seat (weight).

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-question.html

You could always put one under the seat and one in the bagwell, or both in the bagwell, or as several are doing, just add one.

ScottyB blazed the trail in both instances.
