Re: 1996 Ez-go Dcs Problems
This is pretty typical of one bad battery. Check all batteries with a volt meter and the one that is the lowest in voltage, check it with a hydrometer. It will probably have one dead cell.
Let us know. |

Re: 1996 Ez-go Dcs Problems
can i ask how you tested the batteries? did you put each one under load? can you take voltage readings from each battery and post the voltage #,s have you checked cables, not just looking at them but pulling them to make sure they are all tight..........i know your saying batteries are good and please take no offence but i have heard that 1000 times and 999 times its battery related and what your posting sounds like classic battery or battery cable failure somewhere and even though your batts may be showing good voltage as soon as you put them under load you can have one or more just drop out............what brand are they and how old..........................

Re: 1996 Ez-go Dcs Problems
I second everything that shadowman said. I myself have one bad battery in my melex 36v cart, and if you don't know what to look for, it appears just fine. After charging the batteries seemed to have a full charge, testing each individually showed good voltage on each battery, but then under load one of them dropped out completely, causing a failure of the entire system. Bypassing that one battery allows the cart to run (on 30 volts), hooking that battery back up makes the cart not run (there is a click, and the motor TRIES to turn, you can watch it turn about a millimeter, but no GO).
Your problem sounds very much the same. |

agreed. when the cart shutters or vibrates, it is always a voltage problem. Either a bad batter or cable problem

Re: 1996 Ez-go Dcs Problems
You guys have explained it perfectly.
Tunafish, By load testing the batteries you will determine available ampheres in each regardless of what voltage reading you are getting. Amps is what turns the motor. Think about this, A "D" cell flashlight battery is 1.5 volts. Wire 24 of them in series and they will read 36volts but you can't run a cart with them because they don't have the available stored amps. Hope this helps. Mitch |
