Default Anoter electric problem

We replaced the batteries on a cart we got, since the old ones would not take a charge. Put them in we went 10 feet and seen they needed to be charged. We hooked the charger to the cart , the needle went to about 16 now a few hours later it is down to 8. Can anyone explain this to me.

Your batteries are charging.....normally.
When batteries are first installed they need to be fully charged. This can take 4 to 8 hrs depending on their state of discharge at the time of delivery. The 8 amp or finishing cycle is ballancing or equalizing the batteries...this takes a while and is an important step.
It can sometimes take up to 12 hours to fully recharge a severly discharged or weak system........
