Default Batteries not charging completely

I have brand new(6 mth old) batteries that all of a sudden wont charge completely. The charger blinks green when plugged in and soon after shows a solid green light meaning fully charged. Cart has plenty of power when unplugged but doesn't last long at all. Any help?

We'll need to know what model your cart is and the model of charger you have. Also is this cart 36V or 48V?

Plus, brand, voltage and AH rating of batteries.

I have a 2001 Ez Go TXT 36V with a smaller charger. I'm not sure of the name of it but it's the smaller newer model charger that blinks green when charging and stays solid green when it is charged. I have 6mth old Pacer batteries. I appreciate your reply and assistance.

It sounds like you have a Powerwise QE charger. When it fails, replace it with an DPI Accusense charger.
Notice that I said "When it fails" rather than "If it fails".

If the the LED goes to a steady green, it may be charging the batteries okay, but you need to measure the On-Charge voltage with a DVM when the green LED is flashing. It should be greater than 42V and less than 45V.

The 6V Pacer battery is made by Trojan and has the same AH and weight as a T-605 (210 AH - 58 lbs), but only about 2/3 the charge cycles. (Lifespan)

-----------
Disconnect the charger when the Led turns steady green, let the batteries sit for about 12 hours (Neither charge nor discharge), then measure the pack voltage and the individual battery voltages.

It should be 38.2V, each battery should be 6.37V and all six should be withing 0.1V of each other.

Then drive the cart for a few miles, or until it begins to feel sluggish where it didn't before, then let it sit for at least 15minutes and measure the pack voltage and battery voltages again.

Post both the before and after voltages here. Please correlate the before and after battery voltages to the same battery.

I checked all batteries individually. Four test at 6.37, two at 6.0. The two are side by side. Disconnected them to make a 12 volt and manually charged them. All I can get them up to is 6.12. The pack charged up to 38.4 after I re-connected them. How do I check the charger's output to see if it is working properly. Kinda like I'm chasing a ghost. The cart doesn't get used very much.

Looks like those two batts r your problem - needs replaced if you cannot get them up past 6.0 volts
Cheers !

There are three sets of voltages associated with batteries:

1. On-Charge = While the charger is connected and pumping current through the batteries.

2. Under-Load = While amps are being drawn from the batteries.

3. At-Rest = This is measured about 12 hours after charging ceases, or about an hour after discharging ceases.
If the rest time is less than specified, it does not accurately reflect the battery's SoC (State of Charge).

Your batteries are made by Trojan so the attached charge profile should apply.

When the LED transitions from short green flashes to long green flashes, the On-Charge pack voltage should be about 42.5V and each battery's On-Charge voltage should be about 7.05V.

When the LED turns to steady green, the pack's On-Charge voltage should be at least 44.1V, but less than 50.2V. The individual battery's On-Charge voltage should be between 7.35V and 8.37V.

Attached is a chart that lists At-Rest voltage vs SoC for various Trojan batteries and packs.
