Default Mid 90's EZGO - No solenoid click - Cart won't accelerate

Hey guys,

I have a mid 90's EZGO electric. D&D High torque motor and Alltrax 48v Controller. The controller is giving me 4 greens on the LED when the accelerator is pressed. The batteries take a full charge and seemed fully charged unplugged from the charger.

The solenoid is not clicking. The cart will slightly jump forward, when the accelerator is pressed but will not move. I checked all connections and everything is tight. I'm thinking the accelerator micro switch is bad. Should I go ahead and replace the solenoid? Where exactly is the accelerator micro switch located and how do I go about replacing it? Thanks so much for any advice.

If the solenoid isn't clicking, something is amiss in the solenoid activation circuit and the solenoid's coil is only one of several components in that circuit.

Sounds like you have a series drive rather than a DCS.

If so, and the cart is wired according the Alltrax schematic for an AXE controller in a series cart, either:
1. The diode across the solenoid coil is bad.
2. The solenoid coil is bad.
3. The red wire to the solenoid coil is bad.
4. The black wire from the solenoid coil to B- is bad.

The cart's slight movement is due to the charge stored in the controller's filter capacitors and is normal when the solenoid contacts aren't closing.
