Default Speed Control 1993 Marathon by Ez Go

how do you test the speed control I have a 1993 Marathon Ser 762364. It has a Aex 4834 p controller. when i try to move in forward or reverse the led on the controller goes to green then flashes red 3 times Altrx says it means HPD. Throttle hasn't gone to zero during this power on cycle. any sugestions would be appreciated.

Disconnect the black and white wires going to throttle potentiometer and measure between the wires with an Ohmmeter.

Should read about Zero Ohms with pedal up and about 5000 Ohms with pedal down.
If not adjust or replace the pot.

--------
Another option would be connecting your computer to the AXE controller and deselecting the High Pedal Disable box.
But, that would allow the cart to start with jerk.

The throttle potentiometer reads 5.2 at start and reads 12 wide open 7 when in reverse. It will not adjust any lower. I will try deselecting the High Pedal Disable

Thanks for your help i,ll let you know

If that is 5.2 Ohms and 12 Ohms, the pot is bad.

What Ohm scale is the meter on?

If it is an auto-range Ohmmeter, what is the prefix on the Ohms symbol?

----------
Since a fixed resistor whose value is about 5k, is placed in parallel with the pot when in reverse, I suspect the 12 is actually 12k (12,000 Ohms).

Need to know precisely what the Ohmmeter reads.

I'm using a Ideal 61-310 multitester. When I use 20m it goes from 1 to 0 at 200k it starts at 5.2 to 12. I just checked the resistance in the tester and it goes to 5.2 so maybe the throttle resistance is right.

With the 20K range selected, you should get 00.10 or less (That how 100 Ohms is displayed on that scale) with the pedal up.
Also on the 20K range, you should get about 05.00, (Which is how 5,000 Ohms is displayed on that scale) with the pedal down.

I believe the throttle resistance is right. I unhooked all the wires from the controller and put 24 volt positive to the 1 post and 24 volt negative to the B- post. The led still flashes 3 red.

Sounds like you might have a bad controller. Give Alltrax a call to verify.
