whats wrong with my charger?

I have a Textron charger that will not stay on. When I plug it in it will turn on for about two seconds and then cut off. I started noticing that it would only come on again after I touched my finger to the contacts on the cart plug. I know this sounds wierd but if I unplug it and do not touch the contacts it wont start again. Finaly I got it to charge for about ten minutes and then off again. I tried this several more times and it would only run for about two seconds at a time. What is wrong? Its a resistor cart by the way.

try cleaning the mating surface of the charger plug end and cart receptical.......E-Z go dosn,t like dirty charging surfaces, get them as clean as you can either with a small file or sandpaper......the cleaner the better..................................

I made new ends for both plugs that are brand new. I thought this could be the problem but no change.

what about dry batteries did you check water levels I believe there is a safe feature on some chargers that wont allow charger to turn on if there is bat. problem

yes if battery voltage is to low the charger won,t come on.........his charger is coming on but not staying on........check diodes and amp meter....................

maybe his batteries are fully charged already.... :)

Or maybe something is shorting out, or loose, and making the charger THINK they are charged. That's when it's nice to own more than one cart, or have friends with carts so you can test the charger on another, to rule it out as the problem or not.

Need more info please. What kind of charger. Power wise charger or a old timer charger. There are differant things to look at.

My charger is a total charge 3. I got the wiring diagram off of the charger thread. Some one has been into this charger before. Some of the wires were not in the right places and had wire nuts on splicing hem together. I fixed all of that according to the diagram. I just wonder if some of the other stuff in there is ok. Could wiring it wrong damage anything inside?
