Default 36v Series cart overheat

Was at the hunting club this weekend with my buddy and his 36v series cart overheated while climbing a moderate, but long, hill. Towards the top of the hill it acted as though the batteries were dead. We looked under the seat and the cable coming off the F&R switch was scorching hot. It has a stock solenoid and controller but heavy duty F&R and 4 gauge welding wire for all cables.

We let it cool down for about 10-15 minutes and it ran just fine after that for several more miles.

While we were climbing the long moderate hill, we were not going full speed...more like 1/4 speed as we were talking and looking for deer as it we near sunset.

Any ideas or suggestions? He is in the market for an upgraded torque controller. Will the new controller solve this problem? The cart is lifted with 22" tires too.

Bad connection is the cause for the heat.

the fact that the connection was that hot....I would check the tightness if all of the connections........but the fact that you have large tires, and are running a stock controller and solenoid.....that in itself is putting a lot more stress on your drive system. seeing as he already has a HD F&R, he needs to upgrade his controller and solenoid as well.

Sometimes ya gotta sacrifice a cold one to the buggy gods. Unfortunately, carbonized beverages are acidic, and need to be washed off when you arrive safely.
