Battery Tray

I am wanting to protect the battery tray a little better than it is now. If I take the batteries out and clean the tray with baking soda mixture, can I spray it with some under body coating stuff to help protect it a little better, or will it stick at all?

Any better ideas?

A lot of people seem to like to use rubberized undercoating. It comes in an aerosol can.
I have used it and it seems to hold up OK but seems to wear off from the weight of the battery's even with the proper hold downs so the battery's don't move.
I am going to try "plasticdip" next time to see if it holds up better.. It also is available in aerosol form.
Remember any coating is only as good as the preperation. Take your time and clean the metal as good as possible. especially all the pits. A wire brush works well.

take the tray completely out of your cart. neutralize it best you can. use wire wheels/wire brushes/sand paper.....just get it as clean as possible. I also had some rust neutralizer and coated it with that.....then using a BRUSH I primed it, then painted it. by using a brush, both the primer and the top coat is thicker. let it completely dry between coats, and a few days before to put your batteries in to allow the paint to fully cure. and using some type if undercoating can only help protect the frame.

I used paint on truck bed liner, with the thought that it may be more resistant to scruffs.

POR 15... I know i sound like a broken record but this stuff works great on rust. I also added some bar aluminum to reinforse.

YES it does.....POR15 that is. I used something a little different, seeing as I had access to it, and is Marine Grade. does much the same thing.

I usd POR 15 on a rusty Porsche I restored. It works great. Plus you can primer and paint right over it!

I just replaced mine with a new aluminum one. I think that I paid 150 for it. I figured by the time I scrubbed, POR15'd and painted it I'd have close to that in a deteriorated tray.

Im about in the same boat, Ive had mine out twice, cleaned primed and coated, and it holds up for awhile, but battery acid is very good at taking everything off!
