I just went through a hellish time after new DCX 500 install, turned out to be a defective adapter harness supplied from Alltrax. Is your cart a series? Or DCS?

You will be wired different than my PDS adapter, but I had similar symptom of reverse only...with the help of JohnnieB and this forum was able to use a multimeter to test controller and all other circuits until problem was found. Turned out to be a defective 5 cent diode...

Start by giving us the full specs on your cart and setup, I'm sure you will be able to get it sorted.

The cart runs good in one direction, but hardly at all in the other.
The difference between Forward and Reverse in a series cart is the F/R switch.
The cart is 18 years old, so the F/R needs to be replaced. You have a 500A controller, so it needs a Heavy-Duty F/R switch.

Darrin......all you need to0 do for now is to swap the cables from the S1 and S2 posts of the motor OR the same cables on the other end at the F&R switch. I had the same issue when I did my up grade that that is exactly what Scotty had me do and then all was good in the world.

I unplugged the orange wire and the F&R switch and it went fine in forward and reverse. Cant really tell much difference in the way it ran before. I went up and down the street twice and F&R switch is really hot.

Orange wire is 1/2 speed reverse.

Since it was going fast in reverse and half speed forward, switch the cables on the the B and D studs on the F/R switch to get the lever matched up with the direction of travel.

I take it that the Reverse beeper is disconnected?

-------------
The F/R switch should not be getting hot, so there are some issues with it.
Are any of the cables and/or connections getting hot. If so, they need to be fixed.replaced.
--------
You probably won't see any speed gains, but should have more torque.

well considering you upgraded the system EXCEPT for your F&R.....and its 18 yrs old....that cold be why its getting toasty.....I suggestion, get yourself a HD F&R from Scotty.
