Default RXV trouble going forward or backwards

I have a fairly new RXV Electric with the auto braking system (no brakes just electric).

Occasionally it will not travel forward or backwards, when I select the direction it clicks and when I press the accelerator it clicks and will not move. After letting it sit for awhile it works OK. It will do this mostly when you come to a quick stop.

I understand the system a bit and it sounds like the park brake is not releasing and the motor kicks out when it tries to move with it on.

Thanks

Quick stops on the RXV are hard on the brake. You could be experiencing a couple things. If you take the brake off you will see it is an oval shaped shaft that inserts into the brake. When you brake hard this could be turning slightly and wedging itself causing problems. Another could be the bearing encoder. You can also remove the brake, just 3 bolts and an electrical connection and try to remove the brake dust. If nothing else it will help you get more life out of the brake. Just try to avoid hard braking this will also extend the brake life. Last thought when it won't move flip the switch into tow/maintenance and push it a few feet. Then put it back into run mode and see what it does. Post results

There are countless threads here for this issue. Nobody has been able to solve the issue and post here. I have an 2008 RXV. Same thing. Flip the key back and forth (on-off-on) and usually mine will go after 2-3-4 tries. Wish I had good news but I have tried everything on mine except replace the controller and still have the issue.

Good luck!

Pinball ever do what I suggested put it in tow/maintenance and push it a few feet. Then turn key off put switch back on run and see if it operates?

Thank to all that responded, I tried pulling the pedal back and still the same.

When I tried to put it into tow it would not freewheel, the brake would not release with out doing the same thing. I think that is telling me that releasing the brake is part of the problem.

When you take off the tow switch cover there are instructions to over-ride the tow system, I removed and cleaned all of the connections and so far it seems to be functioning.

If the problem continues I am going to put a power indicator in the brake release connection to see if the brake is not releasing due to no power. That will tell me if it is a mechanical or a control issue.

Cheers

It really sounds like you might just need to replace the brake. Do you know how old the brake is?

The cart is new, about 6 months old. I removed the brake and it is like new condition.

Yeah I tried that bud. No go. I have tried everything except swapping controllers. I even swapped brakes. Cleaned connections. changed batteries. inspected and tested all switches. new solenoid. new F-N-R switch. took motor out and inspected on bench (visually since missing a bearing when removed from cart).

I don't know what my issue is. Local dealer wants to install new controller. I cannot afford that. This cart has soaked me enough already. I will just use it and hope the condition gets no worse. It is about 3-4-5 key turns back and forth and it will move after that.

I'm sorry to hear that your almost new rxv is giving you problems so early in its lifespan! I was thinking of selling/trading in my 2007 yamaha drive and possibly get a new 2014 ezgo rxv or club car. After hearing about these problems that the RXVs are having, I'm having second thoughts about even consider this cart.
Anybody have any thoughts about comparing these two carts, since I've only had the yamaha (2 replaced rear ends since new!)).
