Default Wiring a battery indicator

I purchased a battery indicator and can't figure out the wiring. I would like it to work only when the key is in the on position.

I connected the + to the battery positive terminal and the - to the battery negative terminal. There are two terminals on the back of the battery indicator marked C and R.

When I connect the C to the positive battery terminal the battery indicator works. However, when I connected it to the back of the key switch it doesn't work. The back of the key switch has two wires. One green and one blue. I have tried both wires and neither works. I tested them with my volt meter and neither has juice with the key on or off. But the cart works fine...

Can anyone help?

I just did this. I think if it has 2 terminals, it is on all the time. I'm sure someone who knows more than me will chime in!

i have no clue on meter .. maybe a photo will help me
here is diagram of your cart ... green side of key should be hot all time
i think you have a meter that needs power to work and then wire to see volts
my guess (only a guess)
c to battery pack positive
meter positive to blue side of key... if it stays on all the time go to the green wire
meter negative to pack negative

In the schematic posted, the Keyswitch is only hot when the F/R is in either F or R. (MS-2 closed)

so if he puts it in neutral it will act as an off switch ?

key switch will be hot when f/r controller is engaged
my guess (only a guess)
c to battery pack positive
meter positive to blue side of key... f/r switch will control power , neutral off
meter negative to pack negative

that sound right johnnie ?

I'd put Meter+ on the Green wire from the Keyswitch (Switched leg) so turning off key would shut off meter. As would shifting to Neutral, but some people leave their carts in gear.

Either way, it doesn't matter to me.

My DVM meter is connected directly to the pack and it stays on all the time.

I always wire meters direct. Wiring off the key switch can provide false SOC due to voltage drop in that wiring and switches. This can be as high as 0.4v and throw off what you think the SOC actually is.
