Default EZGO TXT PDS External Battery Wiring

Hi
I have a 2007 EZGO TXT Freedom PDS. I decided to buy a small 12 volt battery to hook up my stereo. I have hooked up it and it works great but I would also like to hook up the factory light kit to the extra battery. The positive for the light kit is hooked up to the middle back positive post battery and it appears that the negative is hooked up to a fuse block with three wires going to three different positive posts and one main negative. I tired briefly hooking up the light positive to the positive terminal of the extra battery and then touched the negative coming from the fuse block and it sparked so I stopped.
Is it ok to hook up the positive and negative wires from the light kit directly to the extra battery (and leave the three other wires going to the positive post on the fuse block) or do I need run a wire from the negative fuse block to the negative post of the extra battery?

I don't want to mess up the PDS system so any help would be appreciated

Thanks!!

My cart is a series and older but the 12v part should be the same. On my cart a green wire came from the rear center battery + to the drivers side of the fuse block. The fuse block does not change polarity. + in to one side, thru the fuses and + out on the other side. The passenger side rear battery should have 3 wires attached to the negative(-) post. The large main power cable, a smaller gage black wire running to the charge receptacle and another small black wire which is the negative connection for the 12v part of the wire harness.
To move the carts 12v system to the separate battery: Disconnect the green wire from the drivers side of the fuse block. Run a new wire from there to the + on the separate battery. Disconnect and extend the wire from the passenger rear battery(-) to the negative post on the separate battery. The carts 12v system has now been moved to the separate battery. The lights will still be fused as they were before. I secured the green wire and labeled it so it could be put back the way it was if desired in the future.
NOTE: My cart is older and NOT a PDS. It is possible though not likely that the 12v wiring in a late model PDS freedom cart is different so you should check an accessory wire diagram for your yr/model cart. Probably in the stickies or some one has it as I have seen it posted before. ALSO, my cart had the 3 position key switch changed to a 2 position switch with a unique key. The lights were moved to a separate switch. Shouldn't change anything for you but you never know.

Make sure you don't mistake the wire for the negative connection to the charger port with the wire for the negative 12v wire.

You are going to have to isolate your 12 V system from your 36v system completely.
Identify the source and the polarity of the source for your fuse panel. Then identify source of the other side of the circuit. Once you know where the positive and negative sources come from it will be easy to relocate them to the separate 12 V battery source.
I think you're onto a good project. The end result should be a longer lifespan for the battery main pack.

The fuse block is Positive.

Here is a accessory wiring diagram, showing the 36V pack tapped for 12V.

There should be three wires/cables connected to the main negative terminal on the battery pack. 4Ga cable to the controller, 8ga black wire to the charge receptacle and a smaller black wire to the accessories. Move the small black wire to the Negative terminal of your accessory battery.

The green wire with a red wire spliced onto it that is connected to the rear-center battery is Positive and connects to the fuse block. Move this wire to the positive terminal of your accessory battery.

Your SoC meter will no longer work at this point, so you have two choices:
1. Run a separate wire from the 36V pack's main negative terminal to Pin-2 on the meter.
2. Replace that miserable meter that lies more than some politicians with a DVM type that is wired directly to the Main + & - terminals.
Note: By adding DPDT switch, the same DVM meter can be used to monitor the voltage on your accessory battery.

I have a 2010 48volt TXT golf cart that just quit running, I checked the solenoid OK(replaced), the micro switch OK(replaced), the ITS OK(replaced, the key switch and the F/R switch OK, battery voltage is OK. Is the problem the Controller? I'm not sure how to test it.
