Reverse is great, forward won't budge
I have an '87 Marathon 36v that hasn't worked since I got it. I charged all of the batteries and I'm getting 36v through them. I checked all of my connections and they seem to be tight. When I put the cart in F it wouldn't even make a sound. So I tried R and when I hit the pedal it just about put me into the house with a brand new door. I don't have a clue about where to start or about much of anything about carts. Can anyone help? Please!!

Check your F/R switch contacts.

Ok. So how do I check those contacts? Yes, I really did ask you that.

Re: Reverse is great, forward won't budge
While you have it in forward and the throttle pedal slightly pushed...wiggle the F/R switch back and forth and see if the cart tries to move forward.
If you get some movement while moving the switch, the contacts are bad and either need replacing or a good filing. |

Re: Reverse is great, forward won't budge
First thing is get those back wheels off the ground so you want be installing a new wall.
Sorry could resist: Forward / Reverse cam inside the battery compartment. Check the micro switch on the cam and see if it's working when in Forward. It's the small black looking thing hanging on the cam with a little lever with a wheel attached to it. Also look for any signs of heat or burnt looking area's. |

Re: Reverse is great, forward won't budge
I don't know what it was exactly, but I found the back up alarm had one side broken in the sleeve. So I fixed that and now my cart works, with a back up alarm as a bonus!! Thanks for the effort fellas! I'm sure I'm going to need you guys again. The lift and tires are going to be here in a few days.
P.S. I love the humor!! |

Re: Reverse is great, forward won't budge
Is this right? I am having the same problem after rewiring my 91 marathon. My solenoid clicks and I head the high pitch noise form the controller but no forward! Reverse kicks butt though! Any ideas? Oh yea, I totally removed the reverse horn. Is that needed? Thanks All....AJWASHERE
