Default Alltrax is in, but solenoid clicks in FWD

OK, I got my new alltrax in, and all wired up, but now it is doing something strange and I cant remember if it is correct, or I have a possible wiring prob. When I turn the key on, no solenoid clicks, but when I put it in FWD, then I hear the solenoid click. When I apply throttle, it goes as normal in FWD and REV. Isnt the solenoid supposed to only click when you apply throttle? It seems so to me........

Mine would do that and then after a second or two would drop out until you stepped on the pedal.

Yes, I just got off the phone with Alltrax and they confirmed that. He said that it appears that I have everything working normal. I was worried that I was going to damage my shiny new controller. Well, I guess there is nothing left to do but give it a whirl around the 'hood, then! Thanks everyone!

I think that that is not the problem now. I called Alltrax and they said it was supposed to do that. Now, when I drive the cart, it jumps to life - like a scalded dog - but only works intermittendley, and on jack stands it seems to whir right along, just cuts off and on while driving. Got 6 brand new Trojan 105s. I have replaced everything in this cart. I think I am at the end of my rope. I will try a few more days but I am thinking it is time to call in a professional. I have $2000 in parts in this rebuild and I bet it is something small, but I cant find it. LOL, I have to laugh at myself.......

When it cuts off and on while driving, do you hear the solenoid dropping out, or does it just feel like the motor looses power momentarily?

With the rear wheels off the ground, have someone press pedal slightly so the motor is spinning at a modest RPM, while you wiggle some wires.

I suspect there is a loose/intermittent wire/connection the wiggles when the cart is moving, but not when the wheels are spinning in the air.

Thanks, Johnnie B, I will try that tomorrow. It was just way too cold today. Man, it was chilly!

Well, I just tried it out and I could not get it to do it, for the first time ever. It does kind of sound like a short, doesn't it? It is freezing here, on a golf cart...... I'll jack it up and get someone to throttle it while I paw around at the wiring........
