RXV voltage converter
I have a 2013 RXV, which comes with a 12VDC converter. Does anyone know the capacity of said unit? One use of the cart for me is hauling water to my travel trailer when we're parked for a lengthy period; I run a 12VDC pump to transfer the water. Another use is running a small "demand type" pump with a sprayer attached to kill weeds around the farm. I don't know offhand what the draw of either pump is, but it's probably less than 15 amps. I had installed a 25 amp converter on my old cart that had no problem with either pump, but I don't know about this outfit. I'd like to add another or upgrade this converter before Spring, when I need it.

Re: RXV voltage converter
I think it's 20a. I also think there is a label with pinouts and capacity info on the end opposite the plug end. The factory convertor is made by Surepower.

Re: RXV voltage converter
cgtech,
Thanks! If it's 20 amp capacity, that should be plenty to run my pumps. It's for sure that I won't be using the headlights at the same time. Now all I have to do is wire up a 12-volt lighter-style receptacle someplace and I'll be all set. Will look for the label, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. |

Re: RXV voltage converter
Usually, there is a bracket at the convertor with a positive and negative lug on it. And a hole with a filler plug in the center of the body under the seat that could be used for a lighter plug. I will add, in my experience, a lighter plug will get too hot with loads that high.

Re: RXV voltage converter
I'll look for the bracket and hole, thanks for the tip(s).
I've had no trouble with the lighter plugs/sockets overheating, but I do try to pay attention to such stuff. Several years ago, I was turned on to a product called Corrosion-X as a penetrating oil and anti-oxidant for electrical connections. I've had very good luck with it, and will often use it prophylactically, such as in connectors, switches, sockets, etc. I'm also very cognizant of heating issues and try to correct them immediately. |
