top part of brake pedal is flopping free
I have a 2002 ezgo 42 volt western anthem model.
The top part of the brake pedal is just "flopping". ( the parking brake part). It will still work, as far as engaging, but when it is not engaged, the entire top pedal and latching rod just flops around. I see 2 torsion springs on a pod, and it doesn't look like anything is missing, but even the torsion springs are flopping . It kinda looks like the the torsion springs have lost all tension, they are definitely not under any tension, even when engaged. I am just scratching my head here. Any thoughts / advice? |

If you examine those springs very closely you will see that they are broken.

Study this, learn from it. It is everything you need to know about your brake system...

Re: top part of brake pedal is flopping free
So both of the springs broke at the same time?
How hard is it to install new ones? Do you think the only parts I need to order are the 2 springs, or is there other parts you recommend I order also? Thank for your help. |

Its not hard to install, I just redid mine a few weeks ago. They just slide over the pin, one on each side. The two springs should be all that you need.

You can try a site sponsor but if that doesn't pan out there is always shopezgo.com.

Just to add to this, it would be a good idea to wear safety glasses to do this! I had one of those springs pop off and it went flying a good distance so be careful!
