Default 36v resistor cart using 48volts (experiment) will this work ya think

I have an 81 club car with a plumquick motor. I used an ezgo wiper board and resistor coils and am thinking of putting 6- 8 volts in and run the cart off 5 of the batts giving it 40 volts and a batt cut off switch to add the other 8 volts when needed on the run . kinda like an extra speed boost.. ??? anyone ever tried this? I know i will have to upgrade some contacts to HD but I'm just experimenting and dont want to do a conversion kit its just to old for all that.

I ran my 87 ezgo 48volts for years, heard all the crap about fires and what not, I upgraded the wiring and was trouble free.

Use the gas peddle like an on/off switch. Full power or nothing - it will last longer.
