Controller Test Services

I don't have any experience with this company. I understand they rebuild controllers and resell them. I'm not a fan of rebuilt electronics.

why not pggroves? If rebuilt using proper quality components, and done correctly, it could be better than standard equipment.

SP, you couldn't have said it better. Too many ifs and coulds. I don't disagree with you, it's just my preference. That and over the years I've read about many that have tried remans unsuccessfully. Also, many experts have written about less than desirable results from remans.

I've had issues in my business with rebuilt electronics. Still do and in some cases, there is no way around it. In no way golf cart related, but.....

If rebuilds were say half to a third the price of new or less, then maybe it might be worth looking at but that is not what I've seen. The delta between reman and new wasn't enough for me to consider remans when for just a bit more I get new.

I agree about pricing of rebuilt stuff. Too many times it is priced way too close to NEW equipment. It's one thing if it's been "upgraded" and carries a full warranty as good or better than the OEM, but when you pay only 5-10% less than OEM and get only 90 days warranty, it's a big risk.

I think with a lot of electronics, especially in the golf cart game, less than desirable results could have something to do with the consumer as well. If the consumer doesn't understand WHY the part failed in the first place, and just plops a new one in its place, they're bound to repeat the failure.

I'm an electronics repair tech, so I feel somewhat dejected when people say they aren't a fan of, or don't trust, refurbished equipment. :)

In most cases the product I work on is returned to the consumer better than original, but I too have had bad experiences with other peoples refurbs, including those from the OEM.

Yes, i believe the consumer has culpability but unfortunately, manufacturers/sellers are all too quick to concede in the interest of the almighty dollar. Again, JMO but I see it every day.

Anyone selling to the retail market must account for this fact, whether they are OEM, Aftermarket, or Rebuilders. The above point is moot because no matter whose unit the customer installs it's gonna go ffft. In this particular market the rebuilt units have a poor success record.

BTW, I'm just adding to the discussion.

You're correct gornoman. If there is a failure elsewhere along the line in the cart that caused the first controller to go cheech and chong, then any other one installed is probably going to as well. How soon is the big question.

Fortunately I'm not in the cart controller rebuilding game, and the repairs I am involved with have had a very low return rate (less than .1% over a 10 year period). There's a higher return rate on NEW equipment.

As far as rebuilt controllers go, I would have to find out what is involved with the rebuild process, and what components are used. After looking at the company the OP mentioned, I see that the price was only $5 less than what I paid for a NEW factory controller though, so the reman'd unit certainly wouldn't have been my first choice.

I have been caring for a 160 fleet of ezgo carts for work, and haven't had no controller problems on the 05/06 36v, however the 48volt carts that are used in landscaping, and etc. have had controller, and wiring harness problems. the warranties are run out, I wander what are the options on replacement controllers?, besides ezgo, and their high dollar mark up?
