Estimating what your cart's range is.
The question about how far a cart will travel on a single battery charge has came up a few times, so I put together a little spreadsheet that I thought I would share.
Basically, how far a cart will go on a single charge is essentially the same as how far a car will go on a single tank of gas. More correctly, its the same as how far a car will go on half a tank of gas since we don't discharge the battery pack below 50% SoC. To use it, you have to measure your battery pack's At-Rest voltage before and after the test drive and you have the measure how far you travel during the test drive. That will give you an estimated maximum range for your cart at the temperature the batteries were at during the test drive. If so desired, you can enter the temperature of the batteries during the test drive and an estimate correct to 80°F will be calculated. Unless you park your cart in a climate controlled area, the air temperature in the shade ought to be close to the battery temperature. --------------- There are lists of Voltage vs SoC from 110% down to 10% in 1% increments for both Trojan and US Battery battery packs, so just look up the before and after voltage and enter the before and after SoC % (enter the % as a decimal IE: 95% = .95) Distance traveled should be to the nearest 1/10 mile. I use a GPS. The spreadsheet subtracts the after AH from the before AH and divides the results by the distance traveled to get how many AH your cart uses per mile. The it divides the before AH by that number to get the range. ----------- Have fun. |

Neither can I.
I compressed it with Express Zip and I can't open it using Express Zip. I'll have to try to post it some other way. |

Sorry people, I cannot get the darn thing to load into a zip file that will open.
However, here is what it looks like. (I can get a PDF to load and open) I'll have to figure out why I can't get the zipped spreadsheet to open, but can;t do it at the moment. |
