Angry Transmission is Grinding

I have an electric 2004 EZ-GO. When I flip the switch to go forward or reverse, I hear a grinding noise. The golf cart won't move at all. I have had it for around 6 months and don't know much about them. Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix it? Thanks

Welcome to BGW

sounds like a striped brake hub,

you have to be able to see the castle nut in the middle of your rear wheels, if you have a center cap covering the nut, you need to remove it, when you can see the castle nut holding the hub on the axle, --- this will take two people to do, one of you put your foot on the brake and push the go pedal easy, JUST for a second, and the other needs to see if the NUT in the middle of the wheel is spinning, and the wheel is not, start with the driver side, but check both , this is a common problem with ezgo, let us know what you find, its a easy fix if this is your problem.

AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!!!

oh btw Monchi.......Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks for the information. I will work on it today and keep you posted. Will there be any parts that I would have to buy? If it is doing what you say, what will be my next step.

BTW, everywhere I searched, I was told that this would be the site for information on 'HOW TO", thanks for your help.

If it is a drive train problem, as we suspect, you will need a brake drum for the side that has failed, and possibly a rear axle shaft. The brake drum is built to be sacrificial, so hopefully all you would need is a brake drum. See our sponsors for it.

Hey,you hit the nail on the head!! I just tried what you told me to do, I took the center piece off, and noticed that the center nut is spinning but the wheels are not. What will I have to do now? Will it be expensive to fix. Thanks for all the help.
