Okay had the charger off for an hour.
So the batteries all show 6.3ish at the terminals and 37.8ish at the charging terminal when sitting idle...
When driving it down the road it bounces back and forth between 34 and 36 at the charging terminal...

So unless someone says wait...
I guess I am heading to the shop sometime today...

Yepper's batteries after sitting for a hr. and reading 6.3 bouncing back and forth between 34 and 36 are gone. Well at least you know how to check them now.

This is misleading to me.

Trojan is saying 6.3 is a good reading. I suspect it's with no load on it. How can this be good at 100% charge? I can't see it. If you have these batteries and they show this without a load as soon as you apply a load it will be under 6 volts.

That is strange. I do have Trojans and that is pretty close to the readings I have. I guess they are just not holding the charge.

Andy,
I fully agree and was looking at that last week when my May 04 T-605 batteries seemed low. The max I can get out of them after full charge and stabilization is 6.40. According to the retards at BU they are close to the end of their life. When I purchased them new at Graham's I don't think they were near 6.7v.
Reid.

Those are OPEN CIRCUIT readings, no load.

BTW, any pack will drop down below it's rated voltage when under a load. How far down and for how long is what determines what kind of shape the pack is in.

Any battery that goes under it's rated voltage for more than a second or two on starting off is not going to last long at all. Just as a controller's rating isn't 400amp contuiness use but for so many minutes of use. If the 6 volt battery stays under 6 volts after riding it's bad or fixing to be. If it dips down under 6 volts for a couple of seconds and then comes back up to 6 or above your OK.
