How long for a good deep charge?

So I have a 2001.5 TXT PDS. The cart is getting me through 9 holes and then it makes me push it home.

I have only had it a few days. I know the charger is kicking on and when I look at the meter it starts out right around 18 amps and then quickly comes down to 12. I have left it on for about seven hours and when I go out to check on it the charger is off. I unplug the DC side from the cart then plug it back in and it starts right back up.

So ultimately, I would lilke to know how long it takes to get a good deep charge using the Power Wise charger? And is it normal for the charger to turn off and then turn right back on when plugged back in and run for hours again?

If the charger is coming down to 12 pretty quick like you state I would have to say there is a battery problem.
If you let it charge for 7 hrs. and disconnect it from both the cart and the wall and plug it back in it should jump back to 18amps then fall quickley to 3amps or so and cut off. This is with a good set of batteries. With 7 year old batteries if you get it below 10amps before it cuts off your doing well.
Try this:
With charger hooked up and running take a digital reading of each battery and see what you get. This reading should be constant between all of them. 6.7 or so anything low like 6.1 or so would be my guess as a bad battery.
2001 cart has 7 year old batteries so I would say you maybe in for a set of new batteries.

With charger connected and active... Each battery came in at 7.21... Not sure how, as that seems high to me...

OK that's fine. 43.26 is a good number for that old of a battery. Look on the lead flat of the terminals and see if you see a code like this = D4. any cobination of a letter and number.
Let the charger do it's thing then after it sit with no use for a hour after the charge finishes take a reading of each battery. Then ride it and see what the batteries do with the voltmeter hooked to the charger plug.

Each terminal has E1 and C29 or C30...

I will test the voltage again in the morning and let you know what it says...

E1 = May of 2001, which sounds like original batteries - Time to pony up for new ones...

Well you may have to but lets get a load test on them first. Check them and then check the load on them while riding it. If you can take it up a hill and see what they do.

7+ year old batteries? Why avoid the truth? If you are using this cart for golf, you need a set of batteries that will run a minimun of 72 minutes on a discharge tester. This isn't a reading you can get from a load tester from K Mart.

Just trying to help, but you should have known the battery age when you bought this thing. No telling how many times the batteries have gone dry, too. Don't skimp on the batteries, buy Trojans...

I knew the batteries were in bed shape. The cart had sat in the guys garage for a year without charging. I was just trying to save them I guess. Tried the epsom salt solution to to help them along. But I only paid 500 for the cart and that more than justifies having to buy new batteries.

As for stressing them... We have a few hills here at Squirrel Run and the cart does fine for a couple of hours. Then it just slows. Funny thing though is that it does fine in reverse...

Andy, I am still going to test them this morning and see how they held up without the charger. And then put the meter on it driving.
