Question Solinoid vs controller

Hi, there, could someone please explain to me what the difference between my solinoid failing and my controller failing or being faulty, and how can I tell the difference . How or what will my cart do? Sorry , it's a 2012 rxv EZGo. I've been reading a few comments posted and it seems this model/or year is plagued with these two problems.

The solenoid is a switch that connects high current from the battery pack to the controller. It consists of an electromagnet (coil) and a set of high current contacts. When voltage is applied to the coil, the contacts close.
You can usually hear the solenoid close after the pedal is pushed and if you hear it click, it is probably working.

However, just because it doesn't click, doesn't mean the solenoid is bad.
The controller tells the solenoid when to close and there is a switch on the pedal that tells the controller to close the solenoid.

If either the solenoid or controller is bad, the cart doesn't run.

You have to have a voltmeter and know how to troubleshoot to determine which is bad.
