Default 1999 ezgo stumbles/shutters on take off with full charge

heres my problem after full charge on 2011 Trojans the cart shudder/stumbles up my drive and the hill on my street maybe at 1 mph but drives fast on the flat rd but once up the hill stumbles. It started doing this about a month ago I would press the gas pedal after about 10 min. of driving and it would not go until I pressed the pedal a few times it would stumble just a but then would drive fine it got worse as now I cant even go up my street

searched the forum but could not really find anything on this type of stumble/etc

checked my batteries they are at 6.40v and down to 6.25 going up my steep drive with headlights on

Check and wiggle ALL connections. even on the motor.. you might be surprised.. sounds like an electrical problem

What type drive system, Series or Sepex? (See attached)

What is the Pack voltage while going up the hill?
6 x 6.27V = 37.6V, which indicates there isn't all that many amps being drawn from the pack, which in turn means the motor isn't being allowed to draw enough amps to climb the hill.

When the cart is bogged down on the hill, does it sound like the motor is running faster than the cart is moving?
If so, you may have stripped splines in a rear hub, maybe both sides.

Are any cables, connections or components getting hot?
The motor may get hot, the controller may get fairly warm, but if anything else is, it needs to be repaired or replaced.

I have a 1999 cart that does that sometimes. Then next time I use it works perfect. I suspect the controller but have not been able to prove it. The ITS was suspect once but the problem being intermittent I have not been to pin problem down before it goes back to working correctly.

its a series cart with volt meter going up the hill its 6.25-6.23 range on each battery
nothing really getting hot does not seem that motor is running faster

but even on flat ground you may have to press the pedal a couple of times then it shudders a bit then takes off until you hit the hill then just stutters to a stop and keeps shuddering without moving

What happens if you put in reverse on flat ground or backing up a hill when it is acting up?

1. Assuming you have a 36V battery pack, which should read about 38.2V when fully charged, it is only dropping about 0.7V going up a hill.
That means there aren't many amps being drawn from the battery pack.

There are a lot of variables, but I'd expect a voltage drop in the 3-5V range (or more) while climbing a hill.

2. Could be two separate problems here. Gummed up pedal switch being the second one.

Your battery pack appears to be okay and you say nothing is getting hot, so that narrows it down to an axle spinning in a rear hub, a bad controller or a bad throttle.

Stripped splines in a hub sounds like the most likely suspect for the shuddering and a bad pedal switch sounds like the most likely suspect for not taking off every time the pedal is pushed.

To check for stripped splines, remove the hub caps and or other covers so you can see the castle nuts on the rear axles.

Have some watch the castle nuts when the cart shudders to a stop on the hill. If the castle nut is turning and the cart isn't moving, the splines in the drake drums (hubs) are stripped. Check both sides, it only takes one bad hub to cause the symptoms you describe.

To check the pedal switch, listen for the solenoid click.
If it doesn't click every time the pedal is pushed, the pedal switch may be bad. (High failure item)
