Unhappy 2009 EZGO suddenly stopped.

My 2009 PDS EZGO suddenly stopped as if the batteries had run down all at once. The solenoid still clicks and the cart acts like it wants to move but doesn't. When I put it on the charger the light is red and the charger will not start charging. Could batteries run down all at once like that? I used to have a series cart that was easier to tell when the batteries were running down because it would just get slower as the batteries were depleted. This one just stopped at the bottom of the hill and I had to tow it home.

You may have had a battery failure. Measure them all. If they are originals they are nearing the end of their life.

Before getting too deep into checking things out, a quick check to see if batteries failed would be to measure the battery bank output voltage when the solenoid clicks. Good voltage... cart don't move.... batteries not the problem.

It sounds like you are in the habit of running your batteries down too far.

This is hard on the batteries in it shortens their useful life.

The charger needs to see a minimum amount of voltage before it will turn on.

You are right. I do tend to drive it until it is pretty low. I just never had it completely stop like that. Usually I notice it slowing down a little first. I usually drive it about 45 minutes to an hour a day. and i8t doesn't have any problems.
