No need for a key
So I get on my cart, and mash the pedal. It goes then I realize, I don't even have the key in it. Anybody have an idea where my problem could be?

Re: No need for a key
My first guess would be the key switch itself. It's still making contact even though it's in the off position. An easy test would be to remove the key switch and then remove the wires from it. If the cart no longer moves you've found your culprit.

If I get the problem fixed, can I have it back?

Yes. I would suspect the switch as well. Take a multi meter to it and test it.

Re: No need for a key
The switch, at least the 2 prong type, is jusyt a simple on/off affair......

Re: No need for a key
The key switch controls power to the peddle box ms which controls + power to the solenoid activation circuit.... anybody know where I'm going with this?
If you don't hear the solenoid clicking when you try to go the solenoid may be welded shut and it don't need no stinkin' key switch to run. in this case it's always on. |

Re: No need for a key
My EZGO txt was like that . I never worried with it since they all have the same key anyways .... - Mayor

Re: No need for a key
I unhooked wires from the back of the key switch, still runs. What to check next?

Re: No need for a key
Like ScottyB said, do you hear the solenoid click when you hit the accelerator? If you don't then it could be welded shut and you'll need to replace it.
