Using your knowledge BGW
Decided to take the plunge and replace my battery rack in my cart over the week and weekend. This being my first attempt at doing ANYTHING serious with the cart replacement wise, I figured I would be in trouble. The numerous threads and pictures posted by other members made it somewhat enjoyable but frightening at the same time. Here is what I started with....
20140302_115946_zps5dc84248.jpg 20140302_120008-1_zpsc2d16cdf.jpg Took the cargo box off, front and rear supports, seat, and everything else unnecessary. Drilled out the rivets and had a heck of a time on some. Some of those buggers are down right aggravating. Learned very quick to have an extra drill bit when certain rivets eat the other bit. 20140302_160726_zps4ea1dfe4.jpg Got it down to this point after removing the body and rivets. Looks pretty sad at this point but I'm looking toward the end result. 20140302_173558_zps656bd82b.jpg 20140302_173628_zps2c62b00b.jpg |

Keep it up! Off to a great start. I'm hoping to get mine torn down that far soon.

Re: Using your knowledge BGW
Started to remove the batteries to access the rusting years of damage and was very surprised that they have not fell out. You can see a corner of the rack was very rusted and the rest was even worse.
20140308_124654_zpsb79086b4.jpg Got it a point where the battery rack was coming out or I would die trying. I did spray the nuts and bolts religiously for a week before attempting and it did help. Except for the one that I had to use a reciprocating saw, it went pretty well. 20140308_161354_zpsb4e356b2.jpg 20140308_161403_zps4dc64405.jpg After taking a small back and knee break, I put the NEW battery rack in with minimal effort. I did have to enlist the help of my wife putting it in but only because I try to do things the hard way. 20140309_160801_zps288fb01b.jpg After the rack was in, the work began. I loaded the cart onto the trailer and went to the car wash to pressure wash. Years of crud and mud came off and I was able to apply some paint and rust protection to certain areas. Anyways, this is where I stand on my PO BOY build. Cart is starting to look BGW acceptable in my eyes. 20140309_171854_zpsa3679dd3.jpg |

That new battery tray brought out the shine in those old wheels and tires.

PapaBear..it's remarkable what soap and water will do to black rims. Those rims were my wife's anniversary gift to me. Couldn't pass up on them being the price was fair.

Dear Club Car, Please take note of the remarkably simple TXT chassis wiring. Please try to emulate it in the future. Thank you. gorno I just get all ggly when I see someone doing it all the way. Have fun! You will be very impressed with yourself when the dust settles. Noting better than a good DIY project. |
