Convert EZGO RXV from 4 12v Batteries to 8 6v Batteries
I am looking at a used privately owned since new garage kept 2012 ezgo rxv freedom with the original (4) 12volt US batteries. If I purchase this unit I would like to convert it to (eight) 6 volt T105 Trojan batteries to have maximum range. I have seen that it might be possible to use a TXT battery tray in the RXV and put at least six of the T105's under the seat and the other two in the Bagwell in a battery box strapdown. I will have the flip-flop seat in the back. I will be using this cart as a driving around neighborhood vehicle. anybody see any serious issues with what I want to do ie Computer/charger conflicts. Thank you

Re: Convert EZGO RXV from 4 12v Batteries to 8 6v Batteries
Should be fine, 2 in the bagwell, 8 wont fit under seat (i tried), unless you move the controller, i didnt want that hassle. Do yourself a favor and get a dpi charger. The original charger sucks no matter what batteries you use. There is a ready made tray for 6 batts for rxv, but a txt tray can be modified to work.

Thanks for the fast reply. If I get the cart it's nice to know it's possible. Do you have a website that I could find that RXV (6) battery tray

Re: Convert EZGO RXV from 4 12v Batteries to 8 6v Batteries
jd62. the reason is slightly complicated but I'll give it a shot. I have solar and a Xantrex XW6048 Grid tie/Off grid 6,000-watt inverter/charger with battery backup for critical load subpanel ie refrigerator deep-freeze a few household outlets and a few LED lights. I currently have two banks of new 8 Trojan T105 for a total of 16 batteries. And I wanted to add one more bank of 8 T105's for more off grid run time when the utility power fails. So I figured what better way than to buy (golf cart) to justify the extra bank. and I need to have the same batteries same age in all three battery banks

Re: Convert EZGO RXV from 4 12v Batteries to 8 6v Batteries
I have now given up on the idea of converting an EZ-Go RXV to 8 each 6v batteries. I purchased a 2013 Yamaha PTV today one owner, mint condition, and garage kept. I looked under the seat and it currently has 6 each 8v Trojan batteries but it has the tray already set up for 8 each 6V batteries. My only problem now is that it has 6 each 8v batteries that are in almost perfect condition so I cannot justify throwing them away to get a few more miles today. But you better bet than the first time it needs batteries it will have 8 each 6v batteries installed with a whole lot less trouble. After researching the Yamaha Golf Carts I discovered the they included the option of 8 ea 6V beginning in 2012 so this was a good fit for my situation. Thanks for everybody's help. I have never even looked at Yamaha (don't know why) before but I can't see anything wrong with it for my purpose.

Re: Convert EZGO RXV from 4 12v Batteries to 8 6v Batteries
So get the rxv 6-8v tray, swap the 8v in there, and sell it, the battery upgrade will add value to the rxv. And you will be ready for the 6v setup in the ydre.

Or just sell the 6 8 volts you just got. Someone would buy them.

Re: Convert EZGO RXV from 4 12v Batteries to 8 6v Batteries
I would load test the 8 volt battery pack and advertise on here and craigslist. Someone is always looking for a good deal on a good 48 volt battery pack. Worth a shot at least.
