rnuckols, why don't you try this:

Charge your batts up until the charger kicks off. Let the cart sit for 12 hours afterwards. Then, we are going to measure the remaining charge in each battery. To do this, set your voltmeter to VDC (volts DC) and then set it to a number that is just over 36, but as low as you can get it and still be greater than 36. Now, take the black lead of your meter and, for each battery, touch the black lead to the neg terminal and the red lead to the pos terminal. Post all 6 results here. That's a great start!

PS if you are confused about the multimeter thing, go to a radio shack and bring your multimeter with you and tell the guy you want to measure voltage in eaxh battery on your 36 volt golf cart. He will show you the way to set up the meter! Tell him you have 6 6 volt batteries. Good luck!
