Default Ezgo rxv won't hold brake when key is turned off

Good afternoon my carting friends. I am trying to figure out why this RXV won't lock the brake down when I turn the key to the off position. Also the cart will click when you put it in reverse but it will not move. If you play with the key some it will move forwards and backwards but when you turn it off it does the same thing until you mess with the key for forward and reverse and then it will move again. I have not a clue what this thing is doing. Can some one give me an idea of what may be going on? Also when it runs the brake works fine.

ok I will try that in the morning. Still can't figure out why the cart won't apply the brake when the cart is in the off position.

Removing the brake for inspection is easy, three 10mm bolts. Brake disk may be shattered.

ok key switch didn't do anything. The cart has great brakes when it's running but when you turn the key to the off position it is supposed to apply the brake correct? so it won't roll away?

Yep grandpa, you're right, the brake is supossed to apply by it self but if they don't your cart might roll away....

Remove rear access cover in bagwell area (2x T27 Torx screws). Motor brake is round object on end of motor with a plug with 2 wires (its attached to end of motor by 3x 10mm bolts). Try first unplugging 2 wire plug and see if it locks, it should (if this works, you have a wiring or controller problem). If it still moves unlocked, your brake disk is shattered, remove the three 10mm bolts, the brake will fall off, no big deal its ruined anayway. You will then know what you need to get, a new motor brake. Be careful not to overtighten the bolts on the new brake, tighten just until the lockwashers are compressed. This is pretty strange, the brake is supposed to be tested every time key is turned on, does the cart lurch when the key is turned on. You dont have a parking brake latch on the brake pedal, do you? (no electric rxv has one)
