POT question
Does a 2004 ezgo txt have a POT? Or did they do away with those?

04 uses an ITS. An ITS is a potentiometer. Just an inductive type.

ok, well do they inhibit performance any? my ez go is stock and im going to make it 48 volts, and put a round a 700 amp controller on it....do i need to worry about the ITS? will those changes burn the ITS up? will the ITS put a damper on the performance gain?

Here are some links to some very good information concerning golf cart electrical systems. The service manual and operators manual contain all the information you will need to understand each component of the electrical system and its designed function(s).
I'm not being a smarta$$. I just believe that one should understand the system before you start making wholesale changes to integral components. By the questions you ask I sense you have not studied any documentation on your particular system. Increased voltages come with increased hazards that one should not take lightly. Ask me how I know! An ITS has, in the past, worked up to 72 volts.....it may handle more, I don't know. If your worried about burning the ITS up by putting to much voltage through it you can keep the control circuit on a stock voltage. It will not inhibit performance in any way unless it is not functioning properly. It's not a very smart idea to throw high performance parts on a cart without doing some research. To produce useable power the parts have to compliment each other....just like a race car. Everything has to work together or it's going to be a dog and you will be unhappy with it.
