Default charging problem, 96 EZGO TXT

hi all
i have a question that i need some help with.

my charger will not come on. i have taken the charger to my buddies house and verified that it does charge his cart. i have however charged all six batteries with a 2a/6v trickle charger and they have all held the 6v charge. my cart is currently in running order. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

do you get a reading on your charger plug outlet of your cart with a volt meter? should read around 42 volts. power wise charger? batteries should read around 7 volts each fully charged 6 volts is a low reading. load test bats. check all your wiring connections on your bats.

During charging you can see as high as 45-46 volts on a 36v pack near the end of the cycle but at very low amps.

A fully charged battery is 2.1v/cell or 37.8v on a 36v pack. Open circuit.

You can see as high as 42v but usually this is just the surface charge on the pack right after the charge cycle has completed and will dissipate in an hour or so or much sooner upon application of load.

These are just typical readings. Your numbers may vary.

guys thx for the answers. i went home for lunch and took the trickle charger off. i checked the voltage at the plug in and had nearly 35 volts. i plugged in the regular charger and she started to hum. i assume that i may have had insufficient voltage in the batteries to kick the charger on. could this have been the case? any further insight is appreciated as well

Normally need somewhere around +/-28v for charger to activate.

Glad you got it going.

Happy carting!
