Default Amp meter, like voltage meter

is there anyway to have a digital amp meter, like a voltage meter.

the you can see how much current you are drawing off batteries and how hard you are running your motor

Yes, you have to install a ammeter shunt somewhere in the high current loop and feed the output to a dash mounted meter.
Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-500A-Digi...-/180560417586

Another handy gadget is a temperature sensor for your motor.

I had a cart with an ammeter shunt installed. It was only accurate at full throttle. Part throttle gave very erratic readings due to the PWM output of the controller.

Interesting. I see the shunt and meter in your picture. What is the item in the bottom left of the 1st picture? A filter?

I have ordered a dual volt/amp display that is on a slow boat from ROC. I plan to post my results after I receive it and get it programmed. The meter has several other functions:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171298215601...601%26_rdc%3D1
Voltage (V), Power (W)
Current (A), Ampere-hour (Ah),
Working Hours (H),
Alarm control when over/under limit (Built-in Buzzer)
Flexible On-line calibration function, calibrate Voltage and amps reading easily.
By turning External device Relay on and off, it can control external devices, such cut off Power Input
[OVP] Over Voltage protection
[LOP] Low Voltage protection
[OCP] Over Current protection
[OAH] Over Charge protection
[OPP] Over Power protection
[OFT] Over Time protection
Adopting modular design, collocate indicator lights on the panel for various working status
4 digits LED, High accuracy
Expandable with ext'l Shunt and Relay

Sorry Reddirtroad, I'm out of your league, but I'm learning. I see the pro's answered.

An isolated DC to DC PSU. I forget the voltage, but I think the ammeter wants an 5 or 12 volt isolated PSU. The PSU wants a certain amperage to be accurate, so I added a burden resistor to make it happy.
