Default Stop and Go

First time cart owner, and i need help. I bought what i think is an 05 ezgo 36V. I added a 6" lift and 23" tires also new Batteries. Problem now is that when i take off it runs for awhile then stops. i let it rest for a few minutes then it will run again maybe a few feet or a mile depending on terrain. From what I've read on here I think it points at the controller?

Welcome to BGW

Yes if this is a PDS cart? F/R switch on the dash and TOW/RUN switch on the controller cover?, if the cart is stock running gear then yes it is the controller shutting down because of the big tires and the controller will over heat, you need to up grade the controller and cables

Looks like you are correct that the controller is failing, some more info on the cart would be helpful. Is the cart series or PDS (PDS cart will have the forward/reverse switch located on the dash and a run/two switch on the controller cover)

If your cart is a PDS cart with those size tires and a stock controller it is only a matter of time before they fail.

check out http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html and find the one that best fits what you are using the cart for

Yes the FW/REV switch is on the dash. Can i just replace the controller or do I need to upgrade both.

Because of the extra load that the 23" tires are putting on your drive system you will want to upgrade both controller and cables. For controller I would recommend a 500amp controller and 2ga cables.

Unless they have already been replaced, all 10 high current cables need to be replaced. 4Ga or heavier.

The stock (85A) solenoid needs to be replaced also. 200A or larger with a 400A controller and a 400A with a 500A or 600A controller.

Hold onto you hat, unless the 23" tires are the low pressure type, with a DCX500, that cart ought to do about 30 MPH.
