Default EZGO Wont GO?

I have a EZGO cart that has had a lot of upgrades. I would say at this point it is not a PDS cart. I have a 48 volt set up with an Altrax programmable controller, heavy duty fwd-rev switch and I believe a Beast motor. Today I was installing new lights and the cart just quit working? I drove it in the garage last night but today I have nothing.

The batteries are 2013 and have 50 volts. When you press the pedal the solenoid does not click at all. On the controller when the pedal is pressed the green light flashes 4 times pauses in the off position for about a sec then goes solid green. WOT the light goes yellow. I did remove some of the old light wires from the battery but non of them were connected anywhere near the control wires???

4 green flashes means its throttle. solid yellow means 100% from ITS input. start by checking run circuit. do a search and i'm almost sure johnnyb has a post that explains all of the electrical for the run circuit.

Jeremy, you have a series drive system in your cart, the fact that the solenoid does NOT click when you step on the "gas" means you have an issue in the activation circuit. here is a schematic with that circuit highlighted.

I have looked at this several times. I have printed it and will spend more time on it in the morning. Thank you!

Actually a second thought. If all is good with the wiring, what is a safe way to check the solenoid. I seen another post where someone went straight from the battery + to the small term. with the red wires. Is this a safe test. It appears the controller is working just not the solenoid. I don't want to do something stupid and have to get a controller too.

The safest way would be to see if the solenoid coil gets 36 volts across the coil with a volt meter when everything is set to go and the pedal depressed. If you get 36 volts and no click would indicate the solenoid is bad. No voltage there is something else wrong in one of the four switches or wiring in series with the B+ or the B- side of the coil is not connected to B-.

Concur. However, if you really want to do a test, disconnect the diode and apply 36 volts to the two small terminals (with no diode, polarity is not important). It will either click or not. However, clicking is not a guarantee that the contacts inside are "happy".

I had two reed switches go bad on my 1998 TXT Series buggy. Like a dummy, I replaced the first. The second time, I just bypassed it. Check continuity through that first, as it seems to be a frequent failure, not allowing + and - to get to the solenoid.

No reed switch that was bypassed long ago. However I checked the voltage at the solenoid with the pedal depressed[I get full voltage and no click. I will replace it hopefully that takes care of it.

make sure you get pack voltage reading across both small solenoid activation wires when the gas is preessed before you replace solenoid
