Smallest 36v Charger
I'm going with an on-board charger for my TXT so I can properly set up my LiPo battery conversion. Looking to save space and weight so I was wondering what 36v charger is the smallest and lightest?
Thanks. |

Re: Smallest 36v Charger
Quick Charge standard on-board OB3612 would probably be smallest and lightest. It's 12 amp, 18 lbs and measures 4.5" x 7 x 7.5"
If you contact QC before ordering they can also program the charger for Lithium charge algorithm free of charge. http://www.quickcharge.com/on-board-standard.html |

Re: Smallest 36v Charger
I also ordered Leaf batteries. Going 48v so I ordered 14. After watching a very educated video from evtv.me on Leaf battery testing I am not going to use a BMS per their recommendation. I will just bottom balance the pack and then purchase a charger with a Lithium charge profile with the end phase constant voltage at 4.2v per cell (58.8v for my 14 modules).
I normally use Quick Charge for their on-board chargers and I learned today they can program the end voltage for whatever I specify in a lithium algorithm. I contacted QC and Ray was VERY helpful. Just FYI if you didn't buy any charging system yet. Here's the video. He starts talking about the Leaf battery at 1:24:08 http://media3.ev-tv.me/news031414-1280.mp4 P.S. disregard my PM since you started a thread on this topic. |

SC:
I am looking at the Quick Charger chargers and will contact them about using a Lithium Polymer algorithm for charging. I doubt I can return the miniBMS I already bought, but I think I'd still need it to warn me from over discharge which is supposedly very bad for these batteries. I could just not connect the relay for the over voltage cutoff and let the Quick Charger determine that. |
