Default Help!!!! Question about a Marathon F/R switch

I'm try to help out a forum member in this thread: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ml#post1017118

I'm stumped.

Apparently the 1/2 speed reverse does not match the F/R lever position.
Is that possible?

He can get the carts direction and 1/2 speed in sync by switching cables, but cannot get full speed forward and 1/2 speed reverse to match the F/R lever position.

Thanks.
JohnnieB.

One ms (passenger side) closes in F&R. This is the solenoid activation ms.

The other ms (driver side) closes in reverse only. This side operates 1/2 spd reverse and the back up alarm

Is it possible he has inverted the switch? Can you get a pic for reference?

Wouldn't simply removing the 1/2 speed wire from the 1/2 speed MS be worth testing? I agree with a photo, since they may be daisy chained.

The switch is on backwards...... the micro switches face forward.

I think this fixes the lever position question

How do I fixes it?

This picture was taken with the F/R unbolted so the angle of the picture would be what it normally facing forward on the cart.

my bad - the picture looked like it was bolted in?

Why dont you tell us where all the wires go in order from left to right - maybe we can help.

Another possibility - if this is simply a case of the lever is backwards but cart operates fine - swap the cables for motor S1 and S1 at the motor or at the F&R

Am I correct, the switch is dismounted and the direction lever attaches to the square shaft with the screw in the end?

If so, when mounted, the single microswitch would be on the passenger side and the double microswitch on the driver side. (As scottyb says it should be)

Please post photos showing switch in the F position and in the R position.

What I'm looking for are the two indentations on the outer edge (circumference) of the black plastic disk.

-----------
Like I said over in the other thread, I am not very knowledgeable about the with mechanical aspects of F/R switches used in series carts, so I'm not sure if it is even possible, but the black disk installed backwards and rotated 90°, might be the problem.

When looking from the front (End of the square shaft with screw in its end) the double-wide indentation should be CCW from the single-wide one as shown in attached drawing.

I see Scotty posted while I was trying to do some mental gymnastics.
We can get the cart to do full speed forward and 1/2 speed reverse, but the cart direction and the direction selector level doesn't match. (Goes full speed forward when lever is in R)

Johnnie it is possible on the TXT to install the linkage upside down and reverse the lever action but on the Marathon the lever is a direct bolt up, so what about the placement of S1 and S2? If they are swapped then the direction the spins will be reversed. That fixes the problem as I understand it, then?

I had him swap S1/S2 and he got full speed Forward and 1/2 speed reverse, but direction of cart didn't match lever.

Then I realized that 1/2 speed can only occur when the lever is in R, no matter which way the cart actually goes. The lever and which switch contacts are closed is tied together mechanically, so changing the way the cables are connected , won't change that mechanical relationship.

That means the F/R switch is somehow installed backwards, but having never played with any F/R switches. I didn't know if it was possible to install one backwards.

From the picture posted, it looks like the switches are in the right place, so I'm guessing the cam is in backwards, if that is even a possibility.

I'm speculating, but it appears the plastic cam is held to the switch contacts by four bolts, If the cam (Disk) was flipped over, the angular position of the long and short indentation would be reversed.
