Default dead ezgo

Hello all. I am a first timer here on your forum. I have an OLD ezgo s/n 609586. It has had the usual problems over its life burned cables, connections, batts, charger ... I now have one that i can not diagnose. Backed it out last week, switched it to forward, it bucked and quit. It has not moved (under its own power since). I have 36v to the controller, I have jumped the solenoid out and hit the gas,and the solenoid clicks everytime i hit the gas. I am a automotive technician by trade, so i am comfortable with the electronics, if i had a proper wiring diagram and a theorey of operation. this cart has seen its better days and i am not sure if i want to put a whole lot of money into it, but if i could get it going and possibly step up the performance for under the 4 it will take me to replace it I think that is what i would do. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also post the mfg. number. That will tell model year.

There may be an illustration or diagram in the Stickies at the top of this section. Check there.

mfct # j1890. I think it is the basic diagram ( the 1st stickey). I just checked the potentiometer and it is working.

Thanks for the schematics. The whole fwd/rev sw can get a little confusing but i think i have it. If I jump M1 on the controller with ground into the controler when i hit the p\gas the moter runs. I assume this means i have faulty controller? I can't reason thing else can cause this.

Welcome to the forum homer1.....................

First instincts tell me to check the contacts in the Forward/Reverse control.

You might press the pedal a little & wiggle the For/Rev handle back & fourth.
If it jerks, that pretty much tells you the contacts are bad.

Thats one of the first things I did. If the switch wsa the problem why would it run by jumping the contoller. I just checked and it will run in fwd and rev with the controller jumped. Any sugestions on a controller? Think i will go to 48v as i have a few good 8v batts lying around soaking up space.
