Planning Electric Stretch Limo Project

I would like to build a limo cart like the one in this picture. I currently have an ezgo marathon resistor cart frame that has been sandblasted and primed. It needs a little TLC, but isn't too bad.

However, I assume I will want to upgrade the cart to 48v for this type of project. I am trying to decide if I should use this frame and body etc... upgrade the electronics or just look for a newer cart that is already 48v?

Also I have no idea what the weight limits would be for building this type of stretch? If someone could point me to a similar project thread on here to read through that would be great.

I am limited to electric only for this project, and since I have been learning about EZGO with my other cart (1994 TXT 36v) I would like to stay with EZGO unless there is a good reason not to for the project.

Also I will not be going off road with this cart, it will be run on gravel roads in a campground, and occasionally on grass around ponds etc... No trails, or dirt.

For a cart like this one you must have 48 volt system, for the weight,, my six seater ez go was around 1000 lbs with nobody in around 2000 lbs with 6-7 people in.... Personally for a project like this one,, i would take a newer cart like a 2005 or newer for the value, when you will sold it....

You could do 12 8volt batteries for a 72 volt system, with a rear flip seat. For coolers and extra seats.

Absolutely but at the same time 48vdc you will need a straight torque motor looking at 16mph-20tops more the like 16. Or run 8 8volt batteries which would equal 64 volts on a 48 volt system, and this would be the best solution as far as cost goes.

After all this would just be a people mover.

Don't forget you also have a stop a people mover. That's a lot of weight. Since you are buying both controller and motor might as well buy a PDS controller/motor combo to take advantage of regen braking.

My Dad has a Club-Car Villager-8,its originally a 48volt cart,with front and rear drum-brakes.The electrics were butchered,so we went with a 16hp VanGuard and a DS gas-rear axle.Its smooth,quiet,and quite responsive loaded,as you would expect.I dont think more than a higher torque 48volt motor would be required for your build.Hope this helps.
