Default Pds ezgo with new lift and 23" tires slower?

Question.

I just put a 6" lift and 23" tires on my 07 pds and I was getting 18-19 mph with stock tires before and now after the lift and tires I'm getting 17mph? It has the speed chip. I def lost some torque. Should I change it to the torque chip? Not super concerned since my my alltrax 500 amp controller package will be here Saturday from Scotty B!!!. Just curious. Wanted a baseline before I installed the new controller.

On a side note. With the new lift and tires seems like I have about 1 3/4 toe in on the front end. I'll adjust that to 1/4 tomorrow. Surely that wouldn't make that much difference on speed?

well certainly you will lose some torque ...... but since your still stock (controller) those bigger tires are straining the system as well.....which may be why you didn't get any speed. of course, the added toe isn't helping either.

btw.....the new wheels/tires look great. it appears that you got the same tires as me. at least the tread pattern is the same.

well mine are a bit loud on the street....but that's what came on it when I bought it, but I like them especially when I get off the road.

I too have a 500 amp controller......but my cart is a series.

been told you can get it pretty much anywhere, even radio shack......but Scotty sent me mine already set up, I told him what all mods were done, and its run like a champ, so I haven't needed to change anything.

Nick, that much toe-in can make a difference. My cart was wearing out tires pretty bad and I checked the toe and it was in 3/4". I had a speed chip in it at the time and had gps'ed it before and after I fixed the toe-in and it made a difference in speed of about 2mph. When it has that much it's like a road plow trying to go. I brought mine to about 1/8" toe-in and haven't had any more problems w/ wearing out tires. Hope this helps ya' out.

I have a neighbor who does industrial automation for a living, and he has to carry several different USB to Serial cables, as they (or their drivers?) aren't all the same. ScottyB sold me mine (which I lost) and I've heard the Radio Shack ones work. IF there are some that are or aren't compatible, it would be nice to know. I do know that the one I got from ScottyB would NOT talk to my telescope.

Every cart seems to respond differently when just a lift and larger tires are installed. Things to check are right away after a lift is tire pressures and certainly an alignment.

Attached is a WINXP USB driver I have found to work with common USB to serial cables (eBay is cheapest) when connecting to Alltrax controllers. I have not tested it under Win7 yet.

Alltrax sells the Sabrent cable. It's not compatible with every system. We no longer sell them.
I use a Gigaware cable I picked up at Radio Shack.
