Default EZ-GO Series cart problem

I have a 36 volt EZ go series cart. If it has been sitting with key off, and its already in forward, it will move. If you switch to reverse, it will not move. If you switch back to forward it will not move. Leave the key off for a few minutes while in forward, turn key on, and it will go forward. Soon as you switch to reverse, same thing all over again. I've checked all connections and they are tight and clean. What should I try next?

I'd guess it's the FNR switch.

as tteckster mentioned....it could be in the F&R switch.....but then again it could be in the key switch.

The fact that the cart will move at all with the key in the OFF position, there is some issue with it.

OR try the F&R.....one of the main contact points may be a little lose. the main shaft has a nut on the back side, between the 4 points where the cables connect. tighten it up a tad and see if that fixes the problem.

This is the strangest problem I've heard of in some time. You mean to tell us that after the cart sits for a while it develops a connection which allows the cart to go where there was no connection In the cart would not go before???

If the cart moves with the key off the solenoid has to energize of have welded contacts. Voltage measurements on the solenoid coil and contacts should reveal the gremlin when the cart moves with the key off.

Is the solenoid clicking?

If so, when does it click? When pedal is pushed, or when key is turned on?

May be more than one problem.

The cart will not move with key off. Yes Scottyb, it magically makes a connection with key off for a few minutes, but only in forward. As soon as you switch to reverse , it's dead in the water until you put in forward, and wait a few minutes with key off, then will go forward all day.

Johnnieb, it clicks when you push accelerator, but only in forward, after it sits with key off, (and you turn key back on). If you put in reverse, will not click either direction

What year is the cart? Ezgo series uses the same F&R ms for F&R
Unless it is a DCS cart.

The whole delayed connection thing has me bamfoozled. You either have an electrical connection or you dont. That's weird.
