Question Looking to upgrade 93 Marathon, help

Ok gents how do i know what motor will be compatible with my cart, spline?? Plum quick does not seem to have anything for that old of a cart? Also do i need to upgrade the controller and wires at the same time? If so what gauge and what exactly does the controller do?? Thanks

The controller limits the amount of amperage the motor can draw. Since the controller sets the system operation limits it sets the tone for upgrades. All the components in the amperage system must be up to the level of the controller or the system will fail.

In a nutshell:
The motor is trying to access 100% of the pack everytime you press the gas.
The controller is limiting how much amperage can flow to the motor
The solenoid is a on/off safety switch
The F&R is a flow (direction) switching device (series carts)
The cables are like pipes in a water system...
It all has to work together. When you press the gas the controller allows battery pack amperage to pass. How much amperage passes depends upon the throttle position signal. Amperage flows through all the components above to the motor.
If one part is left stock and the others are upgraded - the stock part will melt. Basically.

PlumQuick may be able to rebuild your old motor. Never hurts to ask.

scottyb def helps . starting to grasp this. lol. if i decide to lift the cart do i need to upgrade motor and everything else at the same time. probably drive cart 2-3 times a week 20 mins at a time. thanks gonna visit your site
