Default EZ-GO upgrade

i got this cart today from my grandfather who gave it to me. my previous project with the 3 wheel ended up in scrap. now i have my hands on a 4 wheel 36 volt EZ-GO textron. the best part is it runs. i need some ideas about what to do to it. wheels, paint, and extra things. maybe a hunting buggie? anyway, and opinions would be great. cant wait to get started.

first things first though. all the batteries are about to fall out, so i have to weld in a new battery tray under the seat.

It looks in good shape. If it were me, I would give the whole thing a reeeeeal good cleaning. Clean all the plastics up.....maybe get the oxidation off the paint and I bet it will look 10X better. Then go over all the electrical with a fine tooth comb, 4 gage is a must, 400 amp controller, drop axle lift, 22's on steelies and you have a fine hunting buggie that won't break the bank.

*TXT bodies will fit with ease and can be found at local dealers for cheap.
* Pep boys, autozone, place like that sell "Restore Black" to resore the black plastic.

Looks like a great start. I have a similar model in the workhorse body, but same battery tray. I found mine a bit rusted, but was able to save it.

If you don't have access to a welder, you may be able to bolt together some angle iron to rebuild the battery tray. Then trailer the whole cart and take to a welder to spot weld everything together while its bolted on the cart. Obviously welding up from the get go is best.

May consider spray on bedliner to coat the new tray to eliminate the acid from ruining the new tray. Again, great cart to start with though. Price was great.

Batteries are 67 bucks at Sams right now, if money is tight right now. save a couple hundred on the set.........

If the batteries are about to fall out? Make a diagram of how they are wired and remove the batteries. Pressure wash scape and p-wash again all the battery supports. Then you can see where to weld in some new angle iron. Careful not to spray water directly into the electronics.

You can replace the battery tray for something like $70 to $100... no welding or anything...

Yep, the battery trays bolt in. This is a good looking cart. You can really make these look great too.

Get a plastic body for it and paint it your favorite custom color and go from there.

The batteries are a little easier to get out and in when you have the body off too.

Have fun and keep us posted with Photo Updates.

Depending on whats your time worth, that seems like the route to take. You can't weld one up for that price, good call.............

It is always more rewarding to make something you need rather than 'buy' it
