Default FnR switch problem.

Just not my weekend. My neighbor's FnR switch is toast on his 98 series ezgo. I would like to help him out and just bypass the switch until we can replace it. Just can't remember the correct pair. Is it A-B and C-D to give him forward? I will also disconnect the reverse activation for good measure.

I believe the highlighted current path through the F/R on the schematic is in forward, so A-B and C-D ought to be forward.

Leaving the Reverse control wires as is won't hurt anything. All they do is sound the beeper and put the controller in 1/2 speed.

The good news is: With all the other things occupying your time, the new batteries ought to be charged by the time you get some free time to take it out for a spin.

Everything is easier with a beverage in hand. Even when said project doesn't work out that day....the beverage takes the edge off. The second one takes it way off. The third....who cares....

I've learned to carefully lay parts out on a table in the order I've removed them. Photos also help. Once you get to that third beverage, things don't always fit where you thought they did, and you can end up with "spare" parts.

Yurtle is right on the money. Photo's are really helpful. And then labeling 'em is even more helpful:

I took these prior to making my update to the reversing contactor.

FWIW

3 ? Really ? I'm not sure but I feel really bad about myself now. Guys, the bed of my workhorse looks like an aluminum recycling plant at the end of an evening..

Buddy I believe is going the contactor route but he is in Wilmington NC all week so not sure when..

As for wiring, I think I got it. I have on of those pornographic memories so I remember stuff.

I plan on wiring the FNR switch to replace the MS1 as well. Run 36 volts to the center pins on a DPDT, one bank will have blue with a jumper from outside to outside, the other bank will be F and R + buzzer power..

Cake right ?

Dave, thanks for the pictures.

I'm in between jobs right now. Never know who reads these posts. 3 is just a rough estimate.
