99 ezgo just quit
I have 99 ezgo series cart. Took it out of shed yesterday and was running fine. Drove it only a few minutes. Parked it for a couple of hours. Then started to drive it. Went about 10 ft and just quit. The batteries are 2yr old Trojans. I have digital charger that keeps them charged. Checked for lose wires and found none. Battery terminals are all tight and clean. The batteries all have over 6v and the pack has 38.7v. Has 400a alltrax controller that is less than 2 yrs old.
When you press pedal you get nothing no click or anything. The battery indicator also goes off when you press pedal. My its throttle has been getting water in it somehow. That usually just causes it to jump upon starting. Tonight I turned the key on and the battery indicator was just flashing and then went out. Thanks in advance for any help with this problem. |

If you have a history of getting water in the pedal box that would be a good place to start.

Re: 99 ezgo just quit
The fact that you get NO CLICK from the solenoid, tells us there is a problem on the activation circuit.....

Re: 99 ezgo just quit
solenoid activation circuit involves + to one small (solenoid) terminal and + to the other. This creates a magnetic field which draws the contact up and closes the switch. The negative side is supplied by the controller. THe Positive side goes through a series of switches at the F&R, Key, Peddle box until it reaches the solenoid. See red line diagram.

Re: 99 ezgo just quit
Ok here's what I have done today. Pack voltage is 38.7 the batteries are all about 6.44. I tried new ign switch. No go. I am getting no led light on the controller. At the micro switch in the pedal box the green wire has 37.9 and the red one has nothing with switch open or closed. I ohmed the micro switch and it ohms out good.
I get 38.4 to the batt side of solenoid and 35.92 at controller side of solenoid. I get nothing on the red wire at controller that comes from solenoid. Some reason I am not getting voltage from micro switch to solenoid which I think would energize solenoid to close. Solenoid is making no sounds. The controller is getting voltage from one side of solenoid. Well had to stop for tonight dang Mosquitos. Will get back on it in morning. If any one has any good suggestions I am open to them Thanks again in advance for all the help Dan |

Re: 99 ezgo just quit
Since you have had water in the pedal box and you got it opened up, turn cart to go position no pedal. Take the two wires off the micro switch and touch them together briefly. Solenoid should click whether pedal is depressed or not. Then ease the pedal down and see if cart moves. If it does you got a bad micro switch caused most likely by corrosion and water. You indicated you measured voltage on one end of the micro switch in the pedal box and none on the other. I don't understand why the switch would check continuity. That switch is a normally closed switch that is held open by the plunger and drops away and closes when the pedal is advanced and makes the solenoid click. Use care to protect against sudden unexpected movement. At least position cart against a brick wall or a telegram pole and keep everyone clear. If that don't work out.. well just go back to troubleshooting. I had trouble in the pedal box on my cart today so it is still clear to me how it should work. The voltage on both sides of the big solenoid contacts is normal not energized. Don't let that confuse you yet.
