2003 TXT Series cart reverse but no forward

Old f/r failed installed new one carefully. Now have no forward. Solenoid is clicking and tried reversing the coil leads on the f/r. This gave me reverse in the forward position and nothing in reverse position but with solenoid click. I think that means f/r is ok. I think motor may be bad. Wires are connected well to motor. No obvious corrosion. I have not removed wires from motor to inspect. Wanted some direction on maybe a controller issue? Any wisdom out there?

Motors work or they don't. Why did you change the FNR?

Just to confirm what I think I read, solenoid clicks in both directions, but only goes either forward or reverse, depending on cables? Series buggies are easy to trouble-shoot. Is your middle bolt on the FNR tight?

Changed f/r because cart had burning smell and found the forward lead lose and terminal fried. Was working though.

Think center nut is tight. No looseness in turning switch. Will check.

Thanks for comment on motor. That is my attitude about solenoids too. This makes me question controller, but am ignorant about this component.

A series controller - like a series motor - either works or it doesn't. The FNR changes direction, not the motor or controller. It's gotta be something simple, but I'll let experts get you started on trouble-shooting. Good news is motor and controller "seem" to be good, which are the big ticket items.

If series cart goes in one direction, but not the other, the problem is in the F/R switch assembly.
If the solenoid clicks in "F" and "R", the problem is the high current contacts in the F/R switch are not making contact when the lever is in the direction the cart is not moving in.

Since the F/R was changed, you may have to do an mechanical alignment to make sure the F/R cam rotates all the way to the stop in both directions.

It appears to. I can see that the contacts are solidly aligned. When I switched the b and d leads, I got reverse motion in forward position which seems to say the forward position is good. Could micro switches be the problem?

I noticed that the b cable heats up when accelerator is depressed and held. So checked and cleaned cable connections at motor but they did not really need cleaning.

Doh! When I installed my my HD FNR, I put it exactly in N, then moved it until the handle was exactly vertical. I bought a ScottyB HD FNR, so it worked fine. The stops on yours may need tweaking.
